For those seeking a more introspective spring activity, Citizen Yoga offers the perfect sanctuary. “We believe that community is an action,” says Elyse Brogdon, Director of People and Processes, “and teach yoga as a tool for going inward to develop personal insight alongside a commitment to actively being part of something bigger than ourselves.” Through yoga, they aim to foster personal growth and mental health. It’s a welcoming space where a simple ‘hello’ can lead to profound connections and transformations. Seasonally, the Bloomfield and Royal Oak studios hold classes outdoors. Additionally, Citizen Yoga offers over 25 live online classes a week if you want to get outside and take it on your own.

RILEY SKATE PARK

Riley Skate Park is a haven for skateboarders of all levels. This 29,000-square-foot all-concrete park is one of Metro Detroit’s premier spots for skateboarders and in-line skaters and sees hundreds of skaters a day. Riley Skate Park was designed by Site Design Group and Grindline, which are known for being some of the best skate park designers in the country. The park encourages creativity and skill development, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the spring weather on wheels. 

DETROIT VOLLEYBALL CLUB

For those who thrive on team sports, the Detroit Volleyball Club offers a dynamic environment to dive into volleyball. With games for various skill levels, you can enjoy the camaraderie of team play while getting active. It’s a great way to stay fit, meet new people, and indulge in some friendly competition. Detroit Volleyball Club offers leagues, pickup games, lessons, and more. You can join games as an individual, or create a team of your own. Games are held in a variety of indoor and sand locations depending on where you register. 

STAY & PLAY SOCIAL CLUB

Stay & Play Social Club Detroit (SPSC) is a cornerstone for adult sports leagues in Metro Detroit. With a variety of sports leagues and events across four seasons, SPSC boasts over 3,500 weekly participants. “Many of our participants who play in our programs have developed lifelong friendships and/or relationships,” says Matt Higley, Director of Operations. “Our teams return to play with us every season and continue to return every year.” Offering everything from kickball to softball, SPSC is a vibrant community for adults looking to compete, connect, and have fun. Indoor and outdoor games are available for full teams, small groups, and individuals of all skill levels.

PLANET ROCK

If you’re looking to add some vertical adventure to your spring activities, Planet Rock awaits. This rock climbing facility caters to climbers of all abilities, offering lessons, gear rental, and various climbing routes. One class offered is an Intro to Outdoor Sport Climbing, which gives a hands-on overview of skills needed to climb on outdoor pre-bolted routes. There are a few prerequisites for the class, including being comfortable leading indoors and using a tube belay device.
